The Moon and Venus

A pretty pair I took the evening of May 19 at Cherry Springs (my only photo that night). It is actually a composite of three images, each taken within a few minutes of each other: one in which I am capturing the distance and orientation of the two subjects with my Canon Rebel using my Quantaray lens at full 300mm zoom (this frame itself was cropped for added magnification) with another set of photos taken through my Celestron 9.25" telescope; one of a short exposure to capture the lit crescent in better focus and detail than if using my lens, combined with a longer exposure to capture the lovely earthshine, which by itself overexposed the crescent portion. Phew! And for all that I still get a run for my money with this day's APOD...
